From 0 to 3 Years: Children’s Language Milestones (Filipino)
The most frequent question I hear from friends and clients is: “How do I know if my child’s speech and language development is delayed?” First, let me start with the simple answer: you need to watch out for their developmental milestones. So, to help you out, here is a quick guide for communication skills to watch out for during the most critical first 3 years of life.
-
0 – 5 months -
6 months -
7 – 12 months -
13 – 18 months -
19 – 24 months -
2 – 3 years old
If you notice any of these missing, get in touch with your paediatrician. Also, inquire about the need for developmental screening.
For the not so simple answer, consider a speech and language assessment to differentiate between a delay or a disorder.
